Cover Art Weekly: Batman Knightfall Azrael
Batman Knightfall Azrael... well, this was intended to be a cover for Azrael: Agent of the Bat. Scott Clark and I were supposed to do an entire run of covers for the Batman office at DC. We had completed 3 when they pulled the plug because of the decision to relaunch the entire DC Universe with the New 52. This was the cover Scott and I both really liked. It's a shame it never got used for anything. I still have the original hand-inked art. Our Art Dealer at the time felt it wouldn't really sell for much of anything if it ever sold at all. So I kept it. It's in the store if anyone is curious about it. Probably one of the last hand-drawn Scott Clark covers I inked not out in the collector market. Looking at the pencils, you might ask yourself... where did that gothic-looking building come from? I drew the background as I often did. What about all those first-pass versions of the covers I keep mentioning.. We'll talk about those some other time. Enjoy. -Dave B.
