Adventure Comics #12 cover art featuring Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes. Scott Clark and I had a unique working relationship. Mostly cuz I spent a decade being his background artist/assistant before anyone even knew we were working together. It was an amazing opportunity to learn from working with Scott. One of the things we did that was 'new' at the time was using CGI for backgrounds. We would build most of our backgrounds in CGI and re-draw them from the renderings. He loved that concept art look and we sometimes would on purpose render things so they looked less polished on purpose. He was always looking for ways to make the work we created look different and have it's own style. This would sometimes cause some conflict between us. But I'd sure love to still be having those discussions. So here are Scott's pencils and my inks. The background was indeed CGI that I not only built but inked. It was then scanned into the computer, and we reworked the scan digitally before sending it in to DC Comics for publication. Enjoy. -Dave B.
