Blast from the Past: Battlestar Galactica

Blast from the Past: Battlestar Galactica... I've had several close calls with potentially fun assignments over the years. I've done a lot of development work like character designs, story page samples, cover art... just to have the project ultimately not go forward into production. Enough time has passed that I thought it might be fun from time to time to showcase and talk about some of these near misses. This would have been a biggie for me just as a fan... Battlestar Galactica. Realm Press had been publishing what would later be called Classic Battlestar Galactica in the early 2000's. I had been reading some of the books off and on and enjoyed them. I had been given the contact to maybe send samples to by a pro friend. After a brief dialogue, the Editor of the book at the time asked to see a sample of what I could do, providing full-color digital art possibly for the series. It's important to also establish that I had been doing some stuff here and there for Richard Hatch's attempted reboot called The Second Coming as well. I landed the next story arc for the comic book series after supplying the art sample you can see below. I was so excited, and then the company stopped production of the book and folded. Such is the comic book biz more often than I'd like to admit. -Dave B.

And for those who are wondering... what was Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming?
