Trading Card of the Week: Superboy

One of my personal fav trading card sets I had the opportunity to work on was Cryptozoic's Superman: The Legend. Not only did I do sketch cards, but I also had the pleasure of creating the base card art for Superboy & Captain Sawyer. When I was originally assigned the base cards, I was told we were doing the Death/ Return of Superman version of Superboy. As a lifelong fan of the comics as well as the 90's syndicated TV series, I was thrilled to draw any version of Superboy. My original sketches featured the 90's era version, as I was eagerly awaiting the note from my Art Director, George (Who has since passed away much too soon). The word came from DC; it needed to be the New 52 version. As Scott Clark and I were doing covers for the series at the time, it was no problem to rework the sketches. I hope you enjoy seeing all the rough sketches and the final art. -Dave B.
